An oval-shaped slow cooker crock half-filled with a freshmade batch of pumpkin spice country apples is on a cooling rack. The cooling rack is on top of a wooden cutting board and an orange and white plaid decorative kitchen towel is next to the pot.

If you love the cozy flavors of fall as much as I do, then I’m certain these simple Pumpkin Spice Country Apples will be a fast favorite. A combination of fresh, flavorful apples are slow-cooked with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and pumpkin pie spice mix just until they are perfectly fork-tender, warm, and delightfully fragrant.

These crock-pot country apples taste like a crisp autumn day in every single bite, and as a bonus, your house will smell amazing while they are simmering!

The ingredients are gathered to make a batch of crock pot country apples. A white bowl with six apples is surrounded by ramekins containing spices, white sugar, brown sugar, butter and flour. The ingredients are gathered on top of a rustic wooden cutting board and a decorative orange and white plaid tea towel with the words "you are the pumpkin to my spice" printed on it.

This is my favorite kind of recipe β€” easy, yet impressive! These slow cooked apples always feel a little more special than the effort required to make them.

Crispy, fresh apple slices are coated in a buttery pumpkin spice and sugar mixture in a dutch oven. The seasoned fresh apples are dotted with cubes of butter just before cooking begins.

After peeling and slicing the apples and gathering a handful of pantry staples, the slow cooker does the rest of the work. The apples are gently cooked until they are irresistibly tender, while a buttery, caramel-like pumpkin spice sauce coats every slice.

A dinner plate with 3 crispy steak fingers, a small ramekin of mac and cheese, and another ramekin with homemade country apples are served with a chilled glass of iced tea.

This recipe is such an easy, budget-friendly side dish for the autumn months, but I have also been known to eat a little bowl (or two) of them all on their own (so good!). I don’t blame you, if you do too.

These old-fashioned country apples look and smell amazing when they are done crocking, and they don’t really like to take no for an answer when it comes to giving them a little taste immediately!

Two toasted waffles, two slices of bacon, and a ramekin filled with warm, tender pumpkin spice country apples are served on a white plate for a fantastic breakfast or brunch!

Serve these tender pumpkin spice country apple slices warm alongside chicken, pork, or your favorite comfort food dinner. They also make a scrumptious warm topping for waffles, pancakes, oatmeal, pound cake, ice cream, and yogurt.

However you serve them, they will be an absolutely delicious way to bring a little extra fall coziness to the table!

Ingredients

  • 6 large apples (4 medium sweet – Envy or Gala + 2 Granny Smith)

  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice mix

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour or corn starch

  • 2 tablespoons salted butter, cut into small cubes

Directions

  • Rinse, peel, and slice apples into 1/3 to 1/2 inch thick slices. Places apples slices in the crock of a slow cooker. Top with the lemon juice, both sugars, spices, salt, flour and gently toss until the apple slices are well-coated with the sugar mixture.
  • Dot the top of the spiced apple mixture with the cubed butter. Cover the crock and set the slow cooker to cook for 3 hours on high. Be sure to gently stir the apples mixture at the halfway mark (1.5 hours).
  • Once cook time is complete, remove slow cooker crock to a rack to allow the pumpkin spice apple slices to cool slightly before serving. Store leftover spiced country apples in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • Enjoy!

Notes

  • Optional add-ins to try some time: 1/2 cup raisins or dried cranberries. Addition of either dried fruit will add slight variations in color and delicious extra layers of flavor to the crockpot apples!

  1. I’d be putting these on everything, French toast, pancakes, ice cream! I bet they’d even be great with pork chops.

  2. These look so delicious. I’d be the one pouring this over ice cream…

  3. Pumpkin and apples together? I love this combination and who can resist cooked apples in the fall?

  4. This would be a great recipe for me to teach my students — slow cookers are no allowed in the dorms!

  5. Oh boy! These would not last long in my house. I can think of so many ways to serve them besides just giving me a fork and letting me get at them! I’m thinking over vanilla ice cream, too!

  6. I am so excited to make these! These are a great way to sneak lots of apples into my grandsons.

  7. I often make fried apples. Very similar, but haven’t tried them with the pumpkin spice. Making them in the slow cooker could be very helpful.

  8. These would disappear so fast in my house!!! Total fall comfort food…and so easy to make too!!!
