One week ago these two little critters were called #170 and #171 at the Guadalupe County Animal Shelter. They are only 7-8 weeks old right now. They came to be in the animal shelter after being dumped in a random rural driveway with a zip lock baggie containing some kibble and a note that read “Free dogs, enjoy”. At that time they were only 4-5 weeks old.

As of last week, they had spent close to 30 days in a facility that does not allow blankets or toys in the kennels. They’ve known rations of whatever food is available to serve, a cold (but clean) cement floor, the kindness of facility employees who are trying their best, and very basic health care from a handful of volunteers that frequent these kill shelters to help out.

Animal shelters everywhere are regularly overwhelmed by the intake of animals, and the ones with “long stays”, 30 days or more, are often first in line for euthanasia regardless of the age or health of the dogs and cats. There are hundreds of puppies, dogs and kittens and cats in this county alone that need good homes!! Guadalupe County has several litters of puppies, and beautiful dogs of all ages that need homes today.

I may not have a hot cup of coffee or a full night’s sleep for a little while, but we have named them Dolly and Tiger, these sweet babies are safe here with us now. We just love them so much!

They are brother and sister and super attached to each other. We believe they are Australian Shepherd/Lab mixes and they are way too skinny. We’re going to fatten them up and get them healthy. 💖💘

I’ll post more pics and video soon, Ellie Mae is loving them like a little mama. lol
