A black electric skillet is warming a creamy dip, a glass bowl with tortilla chips and a small ramekin with red salsa are next to the skillet. The warm cream cheese dip has a pinkish color and bits of browed sausage are visible thoughout the mix. A gray and white checked tea towl and wooden spoon are laying next to the skillet on the right side.

Made with just three ingredients and ready to serve in less than 10 minutes, we think this luscious Cream Cheese Sausage Queso is a delicious appetizer that’s hard to beat.

Our love for this simple dip is proven by the fact that I must have made this cheesy, flavorful recipe hundreds (wait, maybe millions!!) of times since I learned about it about two years ago… and we’re not even close to being over it yet!

How to make cream cheese sausage queso dip

To make this rich sausage and cream cheese queso, you’ll need one pound of breakfast sausage (I typically use reduced-fat sausage or turkey sausage), one brick of cream cheese (I typically use Neufchatel cheese), and a good measure of your favorite prepared salsa.

I usually stick with a trusty medium-heat salsa, but, of course, you could do a mild salsa or ramp up the heat index with hotter salsa if that’s what you and yours prefer.

Also, I typically prepare this hearty dip in an electric skillet for an easy, one-pan preparation method, and I can keep it warm and melty while we are enjoying it with just one gadget. Brown the sausage in the skillet over medium heat, add in the cream cheese and salsa, and then stir until all of the ingredients are well mixed. That’s all there is to it; it honestly can’t get much easier!

The fact that this scrumptious cream cheese sausage dip is ready to serve in less than ten minutes is one of our favorite things about this recipe!

A hand holds a chip covered in warm cream cheese queso. The dip looks creamy, hearty and inviting with bits of sausage and spices visible in the dip.

We can’t help ourselves when it’s around and we will always enjoy this melty queso dip with crunchy tortilla chips, but it’s also delicious with crisp fresh veggies such as celery, cucumber slices or carrot sticks when healthier dipping is preferred (I’m looking at you January 2026!)

This hearty, warm appetizer is comforting and wildly delicious; it definitely deserves to be on the nice list.

I recently published a video in which I cook up 3 of my family’s most cherished holiday recipes, and this amazing cream cheese and sausage queso was featured as one of our most-loved appetizers. The link to the video and the full cooking tutorial for this recipe is just below!

I wish you all the very best throughout this busy holiday season and from my family to yours, Merry Christmas!! 🎅🏻🌲⭐💖🫶🏻 xo-M
