So my crazy little family did it again, we managed to stockpile our pantry (…less kind description=hoard) buying a product we enjoy after it went on sale. This time it was hot chocolate packets. You know the ones with the crunchy, little mini-marshmallow mixed in? Yep, those ones. We love them. We love them so much that at the time of said sale, we bought three boxes because they were priced at just $1.00 each!

Y’all, there’s not a respectable, hot cocoa loving family out there that could pass that deal up!

And then… the very next week my favorite grocery store ran a promotion in which a purchase of their brand of coffee pods would get you a free box of their brand of hot chocolate packets!! And then… we bought two tubs of hot chocolate mix (one sugar-free and one fat-free in an attempt to accomodate everyone) for Emery’s Winter Wonderland-themed birthday party. At which, we featured a hot cocoa bar… that nary a 10-year old visited because they preferred to drink cola!!

Omg, y’all we are stocked on hot cocoa, of every variety, until next winter.. and possibly the winter after that!!

Luckily, I don’t mind saving a little money and making my own coffee drinks home, and one of my favorites is a Cinnamon Mocha Latte. I typically make a cinnamon mocha latte, much like I make these Peppermint Mocha Lattes, with just a little unsweetened cocoa powder and sugar mixed into my cup of fresh brewed coffee.

However, as an experiment I subbed in a single-serving hot cocoa packet (seeing as how we have plenty to work with!) in place of the cocoa powder and sugar and it works out amazingly well to create this super simple, but completely impressive coffee drink!

In fact, hot cocoa mix, a sprinkle of cinnamon, a splash of milk, a cup of fresh brewed coffee and a swirl of whipped cream are crazy delicious as a team. This Easy Cinnamon Mocha Latte has become one of my absolute favorite morning treats or afternoon pick-me-ups; I’ll confess I’ve been having one daily!

This little coffee drink has been a life saver for me this season, in more ways than one! It’s helping me clear up space in my pantry, and it’s saved me some time and money by keeping me out of the coffee house order line.

I really do believe this Easy Cinnamon Mocha Latte will be a warm treat I will enjoy all year long. It’s easy, delicious and inexpensive. I really don’t think anyone could ask a homemade “barista-style” coffee drink to do more.

I hope you all enjoy it too! Stay warm, my fine friends! xo – M
