I never really felt ready before the big day arrived, and now that it’s over, I just can’t believe that Christmas has come and gone for 2015!  My little family has had an adventurous and productive two weeks. The kids, of course, are out of school and home for the Christmas break. Evan also took some extended time away from work and we’ve been able to spend an unusual amount of free-time together as an family.

I didn’t really know how this hyper-active bunch of mine would do with so much togetherness, but it’s truly been a lot of fun. I think we surprised ourselves at how well we’ve worked together with not just hours or days, but weeks to spend at home as an ensemble.

Throughout the month of December, our daughter was most interested in a first-hand meeting with Santa. Our little town obliged her with a magical “Night With Santa” they arranged in our city park last week. The town officials were there, (even the mayor herself!) serving hot cocoa and several small fire pits were kept burning hot for complimentary marshmallow-roasting. Several of the park trails were beautifully lit with sparkling, white Christmas lights and led to the area were Santa was meeting the children and taking pictures with them. And, as they do each year, the city workers provided a beautiful setting for pictures with the big man himself.

Meetings with Christmas celebrities aside, with all this downtime to kill my guys were able to work on important man-skills like fishing and archery, our son’s latest interest.

And, Evan was so happy to have the chance to make some progress on his extraordinarily long “honey-do” list. We had important home projects to finish up, like re-painting our hall bathroom and replacing a section of our backyard fence. (Okay, you must know he lives for this stuff, seriously. And, I’m just doing what I can to keep him from getting bored because I care. Plus, that new shade of bright, happy, lime green in the bathroom is just awesome! Thanks, babe).

I am also blessed to report that my little baking business had steady streak business throughout the month of December. I was so happy to see most of my regular customers and quite a few new faces too. More holiday cookies shots are already being collected for a new post which should be up soon.

I hope you all have been having a wonderful, magical holiday season too. 2015 has been quite the year for my little family. Looking forward to all the good things next year will bring!

Here’s to hope, health and happiness! Cheers and Happy New Year!!
